The rear tires in the Benz have been rubbing on big bumps, so I figured the stupid wheels the PO put on it were the wrong offset.
Well I picked up a nail in one of the rears so today I pulled it to patch it, and boom, 1/2" wheel spacers.
I tried not using the spacer, unfortunately the PO did the right thing and used longer studs. So I just need to get shorter studs and it will be good.

My fronts were rubbing on my W124 when turning to lock, and it turned out the tires it had one were 215/70s and not 205/70s.. or something like that. Really small difference, but apparently Benz didn’t leave much extra room at all.

I though that might have been the issue too, becasue these are 295 vs the stock 275, but they are actually minorly stretched on the wheel.

I just had to fit a set of wheels to a completely not-stock application, and while I think I’m very close, there will have to be careful evaluation and editing of bodywork. On the one hand, it sucks to not have everything available in the exact backspacing you’d like, on the other, hey - get out the bendy and cutty things. #SuperiorFrankensteinTechnology

Get open lug nuts

Lug bolts, not nuts. Because Benz. In fact, one thing in the tool kit is an aluminum thing that looks kind of like a pen for screwing into one of the lug bolt holes so you can line up the wheel, like a stud. Even more dumberer, W124 Benz station wagons have a steelie spare, so have a completely separate set of lug bolts to use with that wheel because the normal ones for the alloys are too long and bind the hub - at least in the back.
Edit: I suppose his setup may have studs, actually. But, the classic way Benz has done it is with bolts.

He mentioned studs but showed bolts, so I wasn’t sure. My e36 also came with bolts. A stud conversion was a great decision
